Abba Fancy Dress

by FancyDressGuru

Abba fancy dress costumes are relatively easy to create. Of course you have four choices if you want to be a specific member of the group rather than just inspired by the disco era. If you want to go as a Dancing Queen you can wear any 1970’s inspired costume that involves flares, platform boots, glitter and sequins.

Ladies if you want go as Agnetha you’ll need an Abba style long blonde wig and you can get a specially made Agnetha costume consisting of a white silky mini dress with a gold motif and wear it with white lace up platform boots. You can always accessorise with disco make up – lots of glitter and false eyelashes as well as a glitter microphone in case you want to entertain on the dance floor.

Alternatively you can go as Anni-Frid in a similar style costume, a white silky mini dress with gold motif and white platform boots but wear a brown 70’s flick wig instead of a blonde one.

Guys you also have two choices to go as either Benny or Bjorn. You can either put your own outfit together by wearing some shiny seventies flares and platform boots with an Abba wig and stick on beard or you can go for a ready made Benny or Bjorn costume. These consist of slightly differing but similar white silky trousers and top with gold trimming, to match the girls’ outfits if you were going as a group.

You can differentiate between Benny and Bjorn by wearing a different style and colour wig. To become Bjorn you can get a blonde wig and to be Benny you can go for a brown 70s wig and a brown beard – grow your own or stick one on! Add platforms to complete any costume and grab a microphone if you are planning to really impress.

To buy a ready-made budget costume with an Abba theme ladies go for a Dancing Queen Seventies Dress, it looks great and won’t break the bank but you won’t have to worry about creating your own if you’re short of time. The costume includes a white mini dress with a stand up collar and belt. Again just add a long blonde or 70’s style flick wig and lots of glittery make up and you’ll be ready to boogie.

Or if you prefer to wear flares instead of a mini skirt you’ll look like a true disco diva in seventies style white trousers with flared bottoms and silver sequin detailing and a matching white top with sequined sleeves. Add the finishing touches of a coordinating silver sequined belt and a gorgeous long, wavy, layered blonde 70s flick wig.

The most fun accessory for any Abba costume, male or female, has to be a
‘light up’ microphone that flashes alternate colours. That way you take your own disco lights with you!
