Ladies’ 70’s fancy dress costumes can include Abba style multi-coloured dancing queen cat suits with platform boots and a blonde 70’s flicked wig. You can add extras like false eyelashes and bright blue eye shadow and glitter on your face and body. Alternatively you could wear a psychedelic mini dress with matching headband and platform boots, or go as a funky chic in retro bell-bottom flares and vintage print chiffon blouse to really get noticed.
Other disco dolly outfits include a Mellow Yellow “vinyl look” fabric costume with lace up ‘bodice style’ bustier top and ‘hip hugger’ bell-bottom trousers. Another popular budget 1970s fancy dress costume for ladies has an Abba theme, and the costume consists of a white mini dress with standup collar and belt. Add to it a flashing microphone and Abba blonde wig.
For men’s 70’s fancy dress costumes think John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever and wear a white suit with flared trousers and a black shirt with the neck open, finish off the outfit with a big gold medallion. Alternatively think 70’s style Elvis in a gold lame suit with a frilled shirt, black Elvis wig and sunglasses. Top it off with a glitter microphone. If you want to get down and get groovy get a seventies shirt with some flares and a 70’s afro wig, or a men’s disco suit with platform boots and round coloured shades. Add any accessories you feel like from a 70’s moustache to a medallion to a Bee Gees style black seventies wig.
Another great costume for men is a 70’s Pimp suit and hat with a deluxe pimp cane and dollar sign medallion. Wear a purple crushed velvet jacket with shoulder pads, front button closure and leopard trim faux pocket covers, collar and cuffs, with matching purple flare cut trousers with leopard trim. The final touch is a purple co-coordinating pimp hat with leopard trim and wire bendable rim so it can be shaped as desired. And Ladies needn’t feel left out as you can wear a Mrs. Jones Lady Pimp outfit including a luxury velvet dress with zebra print trim, zebra print glovelets and zebra print boot tops, topped off with a white party wig.
Any 70’s disco fancy dress costumes will work just fine for men, women or kids as all you need is some imagination, lots of colour and funky patterns and sequins. Or you can even mix things up and boys you can dress as girls in a Male 70s Cutie Costume, a multi-coloured heart design mini-dress with a white belt with silver buckle detail and a matching heart design headband. Make sure you can still boogie in those platforms though!

I know this is random, but do you think the pop singer Micheal Jackson wore a wig. The singers hair was thought to be his own until a friend came out and explained jackson had been wearing a wig.
